The Boundary County, Idaho, Sheriff’s Office just got a new weapon to fight crime… and she’s adorable! Meet Mika, a female chocolate Lab trained in drug detection and the newest member of the county K9 team. Mika will partner with School Resource Officer Corporal Greg Reynolds, joining Sergeant Mike Valenzuela and his drug detection unit to help keep northern Idaho safe. With her keen detection skills and a personality that shines around children, Mika is perfect for working in schools and with the public.
Mika’s public service journey is made possible by generous donations from the BNSF Foundation and an anonymous local donor. Their support enabled the office to bring Mika onto the team, equip a K9 patrol vehicle, and provide the specialized equipment and training needed to maintain her skills.
