BNSF is excited to announce the development of a new intermodal facility in the Tacoma Harbor. A 16-acre lease will increase cargo volumes moving to and from the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) and inland U.S. markets, and support expanded warehousing and distribution in the fast-growing greater Seattle area. Accompanying an existing intermodal facility operated by BNSF in Tukwila that serves the NWSA’s Seattle Harbor, it is estimated that the new Tacoma facility will potentially add more than 50,000 container lifts in the coming years. The new facility will provide more job opportunities as well as reduce fuel consumption and emissions by taking cargo trucks off the road.
