BNSF’s agricultural business delivered a strong year in 2025, highlighted by record performance in key commodities. Corn reached an all-time annual record and its highest level since 2018, while oilseeds and meals and ethanol also set new annual volume records.
The year also brought unusual global market shifts, including a five-month pause in soybean exports from the U.S. to China for the first time in decades. As demand patterns changed, BNSF quickly adjusted by shifting soybean shuttle trains from Pacific Northwest export routes to Gulf ports to keep product moving for customers. When demand returned to the PNW later in the year, BNSF recorded its highest level of export deliveries there since 2020.
We’re proud of our agricultural teams who continued to adapt to changing conditions while keeping supply chains moving to support customers through a dynamic market!
