What do your circulatory system and a rail network have in common? |
|
Just like your own circulatory system, BNSF’s rail network requires proactive and planned maintenance to keep things moving. Scheduled doctor’s visits give you information about how to prevent future illnesses; similarly, frequent, in-depth inspections help BNSF identify where we need to focus efforts to ensure rail safety and reliability. |
BNSF’s planned maintenance commitment is essential to providing an optimized, safe, and reliable network for the Pacific Northwest and across our entire system. |
Watch this short video to learn more about how a rail network is like your circulatory system. |

Did you know? |
BNSF cranes lift the equivalent of 15 trailers or containers a minute, every minute – one more than the number of breaths that the average human takes every minute. |

Controlling coal dust in Pasco |
To further enhance our coal dust control and mitigation program, in 2015 BNSF opened a re-spray facility at its rail yard in Pasco, Wash. |
BNSF has also been treating unit trains of petroleum coke in the facility. This facility adds another layer in an already well-proven program to control coal dust. |
Watch this short video to see how the new re-spray facility works. |

Ready for fire season in Husum |
Fire District 3 in Husum, Wash., near White Salmon received a new brush truck in anticipation for this year’s upcoming fire season. BNSF supported the completion of the new truck with $6,000 from the BNSF Railway Foundation, which helped cover the purchase and installation of the truck’s emergency lighting, radio equipment, and other associated controls. |
