BNSF partners with corn processors to expand capacity
Central Washington Corn Processors (CWCP) held a grand opening in November for its new rail loop and grain-handling facility in Richland, which will expand its capacity to handle commodities.
The facility is sited on a 25-acre parcel leased by the
C
ity of Richland and includes a 95,480-square-foot building and an 8,600-foot, full-loop track to accommodate 120 rail cars with five locomotives. In addition, 3,000 feet of track has been double tracked to enable single rail car deliveries while full unit trains are being unloaded. The innovative two-track design improves efficiency.
CWCP said it is excited to be partnered with the City of Richland, the Port of Benton, Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce and BNSF Railway to grow its business.

Stimulating historic imagination in Snoqualmie
BNSF Everett Conductor Andrew Black participated in history Oct. 8 when the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie, Wash., held a dedication for its new Railroad Education Center. The center opens up an array of possibilities for the way the museum preserves and shares its railroad history – about people, stories, documents, artifacts and technology. It will house a climate-controlled archival vault, classrooms and training space for volunteers.
