BNSF recently replaced its Washougal River Railroad bridge in Camas, Washington. The project was part of BNSF’s ongoing work to maintain and upgrade its rail network to keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently.

BNSF expanded its support of the race this year by becoming a corporate sponsor.  BNSF employees from throughout the region participated in the race which starts at the top of Mount Spokane and runs across 200 miles on scenic highways, back roads and gravel roads to Sandpoint, Idaho.

Here’s how BNSF lays double track on a solid foundation. Double track increases the network’s capacity by giving train dispatchers more options when directing traffic and by allowing planned maintenance to happen on one track while the other track is still in operation.

Justin Piper, BNSF assistant director hazardous materials, lives in the Pacific Northwest. He works tirelessly to ensure the railroad ships hazardous material safely, and trains first responders in how to respond to incidents.

How is the BNSF rail network like your own circulatory system? It requires scheduled checkups to make sure it’s healthy, and regular maintenance to keep it that way.

To further enhance our coal dust control and mitigation program, in 2015 BNSF Railway opened a re-spray facility at its rail yard in Pasco, Wash. BNSF has also been treating unit trains of petroleum coke in the facility. This facility adds another layer in an already well-proven program to control coal dust.
