Supporting those in need
St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle/King County is dedicated to feeding, clothing, housing and healing individuals and families struggling with basic needs, on the verge of homelessness or struggling for self-sufficiency. To support their mission, the BNSF Railway Foundation donated $10,000 to support our neighbors living in South Seattle.
Learning about BNSF facilities
The ARC of Spokane community center is a fun, busy hub of activity with opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn, grow and build friendships through daily or weekly happenings. Through a grant from the BNSF Railway Foundation, nine members and two chaperones of the ARC of Spokane community center toured BNSF’s Spokane Yardley yard, learning about rail operations and facilities.
Ensuring emergency response in rural communities
The American Red Cross brings together local volunteers to care for their neighbors, train others in life-saving skills and respond to local disasters. In support of this important work, the BNSF Railway Foundation donated $50,000 for the purchase of an emergency response vehicle for the Greater Inland Northwest region.
CPR is only a notification away
Bonner County commissioners accepted a $25,000 grant from the BNSF Railway Foundation to fund the implementation of PulsePoint throughout the Northern Idaho county. PulsePoint is a mobile phone app designed to alert CPR-certified citizens of a nearby cardiac arrest incident so they can arrive to the scene before an ambulance arrives.
Honoring Vietnam veterans at the Oregon State Capitol
BNSF is thankful for and honors those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. To illustrate our gratitude, the BNSF Railway Foundation donated $5,000 to The Fund for a Vietnam War Memorial on the Oregon State Capitol Grounds.
